Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use SelfOperate. Here is what we aim for, what we check, and how to tell us if something gets in your way.
What we aim for
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. In plain words: you can read the text, use every page with a keyboard alone, and use it on a phone or a computer, with a screen reader or without one.
What we check
Before we release changes to the public pages, we run these checks on the pages people use most:
- An automated accessibility scan of every public page, on a phone-sized and a computer-sized screen. It looks for low text contrast, missing labels, missing descriptions on images and similar problems.
- Layout checks that every page has one main heading, that headings follow in order, that nothing runs off the side of the screen, and that buttons and links are big enough to tap.
- Keyboard checks that the first Tab stop is the “skip to content” link, and that menus open and close from the keyboard.
What these checks cannot tell us
Automated checks find only some problems, so a page can pass them and still be hard to use. Parts of the service are also run by others: you pay on Stripe’s own checkout page, and we do not control how it is built. If something does not work for you, we want to hear it.
Tell us if something gets in your way
Email support@selfoperate.com and tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what stopped you. If you use assistive technology, the name of it helps. If you would rather get the information another way, say so and we will work out how to get it to you. Our published aim for a reply is within one business day, often sooner.
